Fear Not The Compass
Here is a good article from Christianity Today in response to all the hype about the movie, The Golden Compass. I've gotten a little tired of hearing so much about this latest bandwagon Christians are being called to jump on, and I think this article is a good balanced review. The author calls Christians to respond with grace and truth and paint a different picture of Christians than is portrayed in the movie. He also reminds us God is not threatened by the claims of this movie. He is still on the throne and always will be! Read the article and let me know what you think.

i just read it...it was good perspective. i, too, have gotten tired of hearing about banning this movie. of course, like with any movie, we have to be cautious what our children see. if my children were older and more mature, i think movies like this can bring about great discussion and can help our children think through these serious attacks against God and Chrisitanity. and it really frustrates me that Christians will simply write off a movie like this when i have heard that artistically...it's fantastic. we have to use our "gospel filter" with anything in life...including this movie. thanks for telling us about his article.
Hey Lisa, i think it's a great article. It's funny cause my Aunt Mel warned us about this movie back in Oct. already before we had even heard about it. Now people won't stop talking about it. But, boy don't we just need better discernment instead of just banning things before we see first hand? Thanks so much for the good read.

I have seen the "devil movie" and it is definately not a children's movie-I had MY face buried in Andy's sleeve! We went on my b-day for a date and hadn't heard much about it at all, but we didn't like it. And artistically it didn't compare to narnia or Lord of the Rings. We left after 2 hours, which apparently was close to the end, we just couldn't take anymore. anti-God or not it wasn't a good movie.
